My Pens

I use figured wood or strongly colored wood in each creation due to its beauty and or interesting irregularities. Each pen is individually made and each one is unique and has its own individual characteristics. I spend many hours of work on each pen, first shaping it and making sure the measurements are precise. Then each pen is meticulously finished by sanding it, then checking it again for precision. Quality finishing applications are applied, more technical sanding, buffing and checking. I put several applications of final finishing applications on each pen, then a final polish. All metal fittings are carefully selected and precision fit to each pen. Each Fountain Pen and Roller Ball Pen has been made from the highest quality materials available. These fittings are of the highest quality for durability and performance. Every pen has a refillable ink cartridge, which can be replaced with cartridges from Parker, Schmidt and Mont Blanc. Fountain pens also come supplied with a converter.

Custom Pens

There is no extra cost for you to have a custom made pen. The prices are stated on the Pen Style page. You can chose from a large selection of Materials and what type of finishes you may prefer. I aim to complete your pen within two weeks. You will be informed of how long it will take before you pay and my goal is to do my best to finish it as soon as physically possible if you have a deadline to meet.

Wood

You have one the largest selection of the the worlds finest Wood being used by any pen turner to chose from at Turner Pens.

There are so many beautiful woods to chose from you may find it difficult to make a choice! To help you and for those interested in learning more about the woods I use, you can find more Information and a detailed descriptions for each of the woods available.

Plating

CHROME: Chrome is a very familiar metal plating. Chrome is an excellent choice for a moderately priced plating that is durable and wears well. Chrome has a brilliant shine and compliments any wood or plastic pen material.

BLACK TITANIUM: A very durable finish. Black titanium can take on several different looks depending how light is reflected. The colour can be various shades of black, grey, gunmetal or chrome.

RHODIUM: Closely related to Platinum and is chrome and silver in colour. It is very durable and will give many many years of trouble free service. Rhodium are elegant and rich looking finish for pens and is used by all the major pen manufactures in their premium pen ranges.

PLATINUM: This is a very durable hard plating. My supplier uses real platinum and it should be expected to hold up under normal use for many years.

SATINS: Satin finish pens undergo a special plating process that produces a matt-like finish that features a slight texture. This popular plating offers a unique alternative to traditional plating and will provide years of enjoyment.

Finishes

You have a choice of two finishes when ordering a custom pen. You can either choose

A natural satin wax finish

A highly durable finish that can be left with a satin or high gloss finish.

Please note not all woods take well to the "highly durable" coating. I will advise you of the suitability of the finish when ordering.

Care

Information on the care of your new pen is supplied with every pen, you will also receive a soft case which i encourage you to use at all times when you are not using your pen.
